It was 1973 when Cabin Casita welcomed its first holidaymakers, nestled within a secluded woodland holiday park in the West Wales Teifi Valley. Designed by celebrated Welsh architect Graham Brooks, the cabins are in the Scandinavian modern style (that means lots of pine to you and me) — and Caban Casita retains the 70’s spirit to this day.
Small and perfectly formed, the cabin is decorated in keeping with its history, featuring hand picked retro and vintage items including an iconic Eero Aarnio globe chair — sit here and feel like a true Bond villain (white cat not included.)
There’s no blackouts or winters of discontent, though. Cuddle up on the comfy leather sofa, and enjoy the range of 70’s DVDs available to watch on the modern flat-screen TV. Suitable for both summer and winter breaks, there is a secluded and quiet veranda, perfect for summer mornings, and inside the wall-mounted fire means the cabin stays cosy and warm no matter what the Welsh weather is doing.
The kitchen is small but perfectly formed featuring everything you will need including a hob, oven and fridge. No need to carry food round to the lounge as there is a handy 70’s serving hatch, through which to pass your prawn cocktail in the style of Margot from the Good Life. Own kaftan required.
The cosy bedroom is just right for two (double bed). Duvet and extra blankets are supplied just in case.
A travel cot is available if you have a baby.
The recently renovated bathroom (sorry, no avocado fittings in here) features an electric shower, sink, loo and heater for the winter stays. Warm fluffy towels are, of course, provided.
If you want to bring your pooch, they will be in doggie heaven in the dog bedroom — a built in dog bed, food bowls and a well ventilated room. For those without dogs you should know that as Caban Casita is fully pine clad and cleaned thoroughly each visit there will be no evidence of our doggy friends for your stay.
West Wales is one of the most beautiful parts of the world, and Caban Casita is lucky enough to be a short drive from the Cardigan Bay coast as well as right in the middle of the Teifi Valley. It is a mile from Cenarth, famous for coracle racing and cheese production (one of Rick Stein’s food superheroes!)
On-site, there is an outdoor heated pool and sauna, and a quiet family bar with meals. Within walking distance there are three great pubs with decent food, with a lot more excellent food choices - restaurants, and independent shops selling locally produced food - a short drive away.
There are a number of great beaches - for sunbathing, cold winter walks, outdoor sports, dolphin spotting (New Quay is home to Europe’s largest colony of bottle-nosed dolphins), dog walking and anything else you fancy. For walkers, we have left an OS map and walk book for your use, and for cyclists, the National Cycle Network route 82 passes close by.
And there are lots of antiques shops and centres close by (Newcastle Emlyn, 10 minutes away, has four or five), to help you recreate the cabin when you get home!
7 marriage proposals, 2 honeymoons, 4 wedding anniversaries, 10 birthdays, 18 dolphins, 36 visits to the Caws Cenarth cheese factory, and lots of lovely comments about Caban Casita - all in our guestbook...
